This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can you remember when you were young and played outside with your friends using hula hoops, jump ropes, or tossing a ball? Most students in my class do not play outside at home. School is their only opportunity to learn those basic skills we enjoyed.

I have the pleasure of working with outstanding children.

They come to school prepared to learn and try their best every day. Our school is located in a low income area with most students receiving free or reduced lunch. Many students come from single family homes. Most of my students have limited resources outside of school, their only chance to practice enriching activities is at school.

My Project

The need for structured physical activity in school is greater that ever before. To have hula hoops, jump ropes, scoop balls, and a parachute would provide students opportunities to move their bodies in new ways while laughing. They would be able to incorporate newly learned skills such as counting, cooperation, and following directions into fun, active, physical education classes. These resources would provide activities that would promote social and emotional growth in addition to listening and communication skills. I would support students using the basic skills I teach and expanding their activities to further their learning, all while being physically active and having fun!.

If I could provide my students with structured physical activities everyday it would develop their minds as well as their physical growth.

They would learn to exercise their bodies as well as their brains. I believe this could set in place a lifelong change realizing physical activity is fun!
