This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a wonderful elementary school in North Hollywood, CA, with a very diverse student population. I have been a first-grade teacher for the past 20 years, and recently made the move to kindergarten. It is so rewarding to see the excitement and joy in these 5 and 6-year-old faces every morning, waiting to see what the day has in store for them.

I am very excited about my new role as a Kindergarten teacher and know how important it is to help set the foundation and create a lifelong passion for learning that these little ones will carry with them all throughout their academic career.

My Project

I would love to provide my Kindergarten students with dry erase markers and wipe-off activity books that include spelling, math, and puzzles, as well as labeled photographs that will help my English learners improve their vocabulary. This would be a wonderful resource for them to have to work on asynchronously during distance learning. I am trying to provide them with more activities that don't include screen time.

It's very important that my students learn how to properly hold and use writing tools, as opposed to tracing letters with their fingers on an iPad.

These wipe-off books and thin dry erase markers will give them the opportunity to develop their fine motor skills and have fun while completing engaging activities.

I would also love to purchase some resources on Teachers Pay Teachers to help supplement our program in all curricular areas.
