Teaching math to 8th graders means making it interesting! I'm blessed to work with students that allow me to show them ways math can be fun. My students have a wide variety of personal interests, goals, and personalities. We are our own little family within each class, and they know this. This allows them to have the confidence to know mistakes are a part of the learning process.
My students surprise me daily at the effort they place into their own learning.
Many are not only self-motivated, they work hard to motivate others. We all understand that to succeed, we must work together and achieve mastery.
My Project
Students will complete a Pi Day project in March. This activity allows them to choose between 10 project options, depending upon student interest. One of these is an art project. they will use the canvas to create an art piece involving Pi.
Students love this activity because it allows them to show off their artistic abilities and creative thinking.
The card stock paper will allows me to create card sorts for various units within the curriculum. Students love these hands on activities and I love them because they help foster academic conversation among the students. The card stock will allow me to create lasting card sorts for future use.
