Activities Build Cognition and Development

Help me give my students sign language cards and developmental toys such as wooden puzzles, building blocks, letter and number trace boards, potato heads, kinetic sand, and Play Doh tools.

My Project

I teach amazing children with special needs. Our school is located on an American Indian Reservation. My students are excited to learn new things everyday, and Sensory play provides a holistic approach for learning and development.

I am asking for developmental and sensory toys to help strengthen fine motor, problem solving, language, social and emotional skills.

The puzzles will help with eye-hand coordination and help support cognitive skills. The Mr. and Mrs. Potato Heads will help support language, social and emotional skills as we talk about our emotions through play. The magnetic letter and number boards will help with correct formation, finger grip, and eye-hand coordination in a fun way.

I am using the Sensory bins to offer the students a variety of tactile, visual, and auditory experiences. They will be able to explore using items such as water beads, Kenetic Sand, and colored rice. This will help increase the development of cognition, motor skills, language, emotional and social growth.

I am asking for sigh language cards to help me learn signs to teach my nonverbal students so they can better communicate their needs.
