Actively Engaged in Math

My students need math manipulatives and science books for assessments! We also need a timer for our centers, to help us manage our time effectively.

My Students

We go into our Morning Meeting/Circle Time. Then, we transition into Language Arts for 2 hours, then to Math. Next is lunch and recess. We then have SS and Science for an hour, before we go to PE for an hour and thirty minutes. Then we have centers.

My students come from Low SES families.

They are all six years old, and have the potential to be great! My students sometimes lack the ability to hold expectations, and these materials will help us increase our behavior. This is a working progress. We are a small charter school, and our class is only sixteen! We are always looking for new ways to improve. I am in need of resources, I do not have a lot to offer my students with no hands-on approach.

My Project

When I started teaching, I was hired the day before school started. I walked into a basically bare classroom. This was not my schools fault, but the teacher before me took all of the materials. I only had small clocks, and text books. I have started to buy things online and from watching yard sales for things to use in my classroom. I am in need of actively engaging my students in Math and also applying more science toward my students. I want to fill the achievement gap. Having these math manipulatives, science textbooks, and timers for managing time would go a long way towards helping me achieve this goal!

This will help my students learn in multiple styles.

They will apply themselves in a positive manner. This will benefit many students for years to come, because they will be used over and over. I do hope you consider my classroom.
