This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are remarkable and hard-working. We work together in a Title I school to meet and exceed grade-level academic performance. My students come from many different backgrounds with many different life experiences. We incorporate the rich cultures of each student and their families into our classroom and our learning. My students persevere through challenges they face from circumstances out of their control. Some of these circumstances are due to difficulty accessing resources due to socioeconomic situations that are out of their control.

No matter the challenges my students face, we work together to lift, encourage, and support one another to live our best lives and to achieve each goal we set for ourselves.

I am proud of my remarkable students and I am proud to be their teacher.

My Project

My remarkable students would benefit from having a classroom with occupational therapy resources to support their active bodies and active learning. My students would use these resources in all subjects throughout the day. The hand fidgets and bouncy bands for their chairs provide my active students an outlet for their high energy that sometimes gets in the way of their learning. The Active Core chairs will be excellent resources to my students for time when they need to be seated. It will allow them to still move their bodies without interrupting their learning.

These occupational therapy resources provide my students the sensory input that they need and provide them greater posture.

This supports their bodies, leaving them less frustrated and with more willingness to approach academic tasks that require them to be at their desks. This will be hugely beneficial to my very active students.
