My Students

The amazing students in my classroom have spent their summer actively involved in swimming, baseball, camping, and riding horses, bicycles, and dirt bikes! In just two weeks, they will be transitioning back to spending full days in the classroom. Many of the students have difficulty with sustained attention and learning academic content. They would benefit greatly from having a variety of active seating options to meet their needs. I am determined to create an active learning environment that will maintain their engagement and enhance their learning.

My Project

Active seating options, including bouncy bands and and wobble chairs, will enable students to move slightly while they work to increase their focus without disrupting the students around them. I have chosen to include a variety of seating options to meet the diverse needs of students.

Current brain research indicates that being able to move truly does improve learning.

The seating options I have chosen are quiet and discrete. They will provide students with the benefits of movement without becoming a distraction to themselves or the other students in the classroom. My goal is to provide every student with what they need to maximize their opportunity for learning!
