Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are mostly minority students and most of them come from a low-income family background. They are very active and enjoy coming to school and learning science.

They are always ready to learn new skills and explore new opportunities but the unavailability of resources makes it hard for them to understand some of the abstract concepts that I teach, therefore the need to explain the concepts in ways that makes it real, captivating and interesting becomes imperative.

My students enjoy completing class projects that involve hands-on experiments, programming, art and research which helps them express their understanding of chemistry concepts in their own way by creating new meanings to their discoveries.

My Project

My project is to help my students who are soccer players to have necessary training shoes that they need in order to train for soccer effectively. I teach students who are very involved and play on our school soccer team but they don't have the type of running shoes that they need in other to stay actively engaged and train for the game.

Staying active by engaging in sports like soccer, have a lot of health benefits.

It helps to increase aerobic capacity and cardiovascular health.

It also helps improve muscle tone to build strength, flexibility, and endurance. Research has shown that sports increase social interaction, healthy well-being, and brain activity.

These materials that I am requesting would definitely help my students train in order to compete effectively. It would also improve their focus on academic work. They would be very happy to have the necessary training shoes that they need in other to play effective soccer.
