Active Learning for the Youngest Learners!!

Help me give my students some additional supplies to encourage active learning and options for sensory activities. The two person trikes encourage cooperative play, taking turns and sharing as do many of the other games and activities.

My Students

Our classroom is a collaborative 4YK and Head Start classroom with amazing students. They are creative, excited to come to school and have great imaginations. Our school district is in a small, rural community that strives to provide opportunities for children to excel within a pretty tight budget. A large percentage of our families are low income, but we are fortunate to have very active and engaged families in our program.

Our Early Learning Program children want to think, learn, dream believe and achieve!

These students, regardless of background or need, deserve to have the opportunities that exist in larger school districts with more funding options and I would like to help provide some of those opportunities for them.

My Project

Materials like the two person trikes, cash registers, blocks and games will encourage cooperative play and turn taking along with all those math, language, physical and social skills that are so important to a child's success in school and life. The backpacks will be used on a rotating basis with parents as a fun and educational experience to do with their children.

Activities that encourage sensory exploration are very important for young children; encouraging brain development, problem solving, motor development and language skills.

In addition, sensory activities can help very active preschool children develop the ability to calm down when needed.
