Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a large, public, inner-city school in the Bronx. My students are wonderful second and third graders who struggle with learning due to learning, language, attentional or emotional needs. Learning a typical curriculum, differentiated to minimize the effects of their disabilities, the students are becoming problem solvers, reflective communicators, and active citizens of the school, community, and world.
My students are facing the challenges of "remote learning" with grit and courage.
Their families show perseverance while balancing work, technology/internet issues, illness, financial stress, food insecurity, and crowded homes.
My Project
My students have been fully remote all year. I have found remote teaching challenging and rewarding. One of the most challenging things in creating digital materials for my students is the constant researching and tweaking of my skill set. The materials need to help practice and reinforce concepts and skills that we are learning. Our materials also need to be differentiated to meet each students needs.
I enjoy the creativity of differentiating the curriculum for the needs of my students and I am hoping to use the Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards to support this effort.
