Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every morning I start my day off greeting my students as scholars. It is important to me that my 3rd graders know they are scholars. In order for them to be successful, they need to have multiple ways to display their thinking and teach one another.
I have a 3rd grade dual language class that is made up of all Hispanic students from a low income neighborhood.
My class is full of very curious scholars who are always actively learning and questioning while collaborating with each other. Our school is very consistent in having high expectations for our students while creating life long learners.
My Project
To keep students engaged, we are always up and out of our seats collaborating with each other. Students will use the rolling cart of materials to work all around the room and always have the whiteboards, clipboards, markers, and paper they need accessible. The book bench will be used to store their materials and provide another comfortable working space outside of their desks. Having the materials organized and mobile will create an environment where students can be actively engaged and successful.
With changes in education, we are requiring students to be independent and be able to explain their thinking.
With materials organized and readily available, my students will become independent learners who are able to defend their thoughts through a variety of resources.
