My Students
I teach K-5th grade students that have mild to moderate disabilities. They all love to learn and coming down to the special education room for extra help. My students like to move and do hands on activities to learn. They are very interested in what we do in the special education room. They know why they come down to the room and know why their brains work a little different. They are always open to learning in new and different ways.
Many of my students come into my room saying they get in trouble in class due to not being able to focus or do the work.
We work together as a team to make them successful both in the general education class and the special education room.
My Project
The option for students to have flexible seating allows for students to move if they need to while they are learning and not disrupt the class with their movements. It will help keep them engaged in the classwork while focusing their brains. Many students throughout the day will get the opportunity to use them to help with their learning.
Movement stimulates their brains to stay focused and engaged in learning.
Providing different opportunities to help with focus and the types of learners in the classroom will help all around with work completion and our students actively participating in the lessons.
