My Students

Hello! I am a Special Education teacher. I teach at a Title I school in Fort Worth, TX. It is important to me to help students by providing learning opportunities that will engage and educate. My classroom hosts ages 5-10 every day and I have to have supplies and activities to meet all their needs.

My kindergarten through fourth grade students are all about hands on learning opportunities.

I love watching their confidence grow as they get more and more practice on those tough skills. I beam with pride when they've learned a skill and can share their learning with their group.

My Project

The use of whiteboards is a daily activity in my classroom, in both math and reading. Students use whiteboards for guided practice. The whiteboards allow me to see exactly what they are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work. My kinder-4th grade students prefer the whiteboard to writing on paper. What becomes a problem is the fact that the markers never seem to last, marker tops disappear, and erasers fall apart.

The abundance of dry erase makers and small erasers will keep students engaged and not have to share materials.

The large easels with whiteboard will allow students to showcase their learning for their classmates, as well as watch as I model the correct problem or word/sentence in a small group setting.
