My classroom is full of energetic, eager to learn, 5 and 6 year olds. Our school is located in an area where more than three-quarters of our students come from low-income households. Despite the hardships that many students face, these children enter my classroom everyday with smile on their faces and pocket full of questions.
My students are curious, full of wonder, enthusiastic, creative and are always ready to explore the world around them.
They find joy in the smallest things, such as using crayons, scissors and glue. They "light up" each time they learn a new letter or write a new word. They see school as a great adventure where they can share, investigate, experiment and learn.
My Project
Kindergarteners enter the classroom full of energy. They are constantly on the move, wiggling from one place to another. Often, their attention begins to wonder as their bodies are continually wanting to move. Traditional modes of instruction create docile learners. Learning is not a spectator sport. Students need meaningful learning activities, where they are able to collaborate, engage with materials and think about what they are doing.
Interactive learning will allow these kindergarteners to become actively engaged in the lesson, all while increasing their understanding and creating an environment that reaches their needs!
The wireless interactive whiteboard system will allow my students to move while they learn. They become active participants in their learning, instead of docile, passive students.
