My goal is to create a passion for learning alongside character within my students. My students are adaptable and adventurous Kindergarten through fifth-graders who live in a low socioeconomic community. Many of these children are against the odds, but continue to work hard and are eager to learn despite what they face.
These students are full of life even with their challenges in and outside the classroom.
Many of my students are also English Language Learners. This creates a unique opportunity. I believe that it is imperative to put hands on materials in students' hands to create the best education possible.
All of these materials will aid in the academic, social, and emotional learning of my students. Each of these items will assist our learning in many different ways. For example, the student-sized gloves are going to be transformed into gloves used to retell stories and used to tell what basic math operation is used. Each finger will be labeled based off of what we are learning. For example in five-finger retell the fingers will be labeled somebody, wanted, but, so, and then. This way when a student is retelling the story they hold up the finger to go along with what they are talking about.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
Many of these materials will also aid with student movement and sensory. The spiky finger rings, wobble cushions, and chair bands will allow students to fidget while learning and not distracting others. These items will also help with concentration. Clipboards will allow students to move while they learn. The binding spines will be used for a multitude of things including student dictionaries, student goals, and behavior charts. Thanks!
