This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Thanks to the support of our school and administration, we're building even more opportunities for our students through this project.

Today's high school students benefit most when their physical, emotional ,and academic needs are supported together.

May and June can be especially hard to motivate students to do their best work. Active Bodies, Reflective Minds is a project designed to foster student growth by combining motivational incentives, movement-based activities, and tools for reflection and learning. Good decisions and hard work will be acknowledged.

Students will be recognized for demonstrating key behaviors like persistence through challenges, revising/ completing work with a growth mindset, supporting peers, and showing kindness. When students earn recognition, they receive tickets for a classroom drawing with prizes that promote physical wellness, mental health, and academic success. This project aligns with the schoolwide goal of Proactive Positive Staff Behaviors by providing me with tools to reinforce good behavior/decisions, build relationships, and honor their interests.

Incentives include:

Sports equipment like soccer balls, footballs, and hacky sacks to encourage outdoor play, teamwork, and movement

Journals, pens, fun post-it notes, and highlighters to support academic organization, reflection, and creativity

Motivational stickers and bookmarks to uplift and inspire

Personal care items and energy bars, journals, sports books to encourage self-care and activity

This project is all about creating a joyful, motivating, and nurturing classroom where students feel seen, supported, and excited to learn. Thank you.
