My Project

In the past few years, our school has gone above and beyond in finding new and creative ways to help encourage student engagement and has grown significantly on the Mississippi State MAAP Test, moving up the ranks and is now a "B" school, and we are on our way to Level "A!" My part in helping our school grow is by teaching gifted where I am challenged to provide enrichment and opportunities for individualized learning and growth for each of the 6th grade gifted students at our school. In addition to needing academic challenges and enrichment, gifted learners often have active bodies, not just active minds!

I am looking forward to adding Hokki Stools as a flexible seating option to keep students' bodies and minds engaged and focused as they are working and to make sure that they know they are valued, special, and have access to the most immersive, enjoyable, and engaging gifted classroom for them to help enhance their last year in a specialized gifted classroom before they go to middle school!

This project will be a great first step in helping me provide equitable flexible seating opportunities for my gifted learners in our classroom instead of just traditional tables and chairs. Each day I will meet with a select group of gifted learners and want that day of the week to be something they look forward to every week. These students go above and beyond and deserve a classroom that encourages their creative and independent thinking by giving them opportunities for choice in not only in what they are learning, but with the environment they are learning in as well.
