Active Bodies, Active Minds

Help me give my students jump ropes and other equipment for them to play with at recess time, and a cart to store it all.

My Students

Physical activity is important to not only keep our students healthy, but it also helps to keep their minds strong, and to help boost their level of engagement throughout the day. An active body helps to promote an active mind.

My students love to move their bodies, and engage in a variety of physical activities.

My students are first graders and come from a variety of backgrounds, including students whose second language is English. Although we are all at different levels academically, recess is a time we can all come together and participate on equal footing.

Due to COVID-19, we have limited the interactions with other classes during recess. Our class only plays with each other, and we are moving around to different pay areas throughout the week, so each class has access to the playground at least once a week. So, we need equipment for recess time that will stimulate our minds, help us to interact with our friends, and give us a variety of activities at recess time.

My Project

These materials will give my students a variety of materials to play with during our recess time. Currently, due to COVID-19, we only have access to the playground two days a week. We are at different areas outdoors on the other days. That gives us 3 days in which we need other activities to help move our bodies during recess time. These materials will provide my students with a variety of equipment to help them enjoy their recess time each and every day.

Please help my students find even more joy in physical activity.

This can help to build a foundation of enjoyment of physical activity, that can follow them throughout their lives.
