My sixth grade classroom is comprised of 50 hard-working students, many of whom come from a variety of different backgrounds.
They come from all areas of town, mostly from an urban setting. This group is extremely diverse in their special learning needs, abilities and talents.
My Project
Throughout the school day, my students and I are constantly working hard in small groups. In my classroom I have a very diverse group of young athletes. When it is time for a free period, which allows them to let loose; my students still love working and playing together! Sports are a huge part of my students lives, and many play on organized sports teams outside of school. This means healthy competition is always appreciated in our room! I want my classroom to be a place where they can comfortably learn, as well as, play in a safe and exciting environment.
Sports are what engaged me as a child, and I love being able to connect with my students' interest.
I am hoping that with the use of all of these group activities: hockey, kickball, curling, and ring toss I can not only allow my students to continue their love for sports, but also incorporate them into our daily lessons.
