My Project

By providing students with the equipment needed to get outside to run and play, they will build within them the lost art of sweating hard! Our middle school students want to have active and fun Fridays where they can utilize the school sport facilities without compromising the Physical Education supplies.

Having a spare set of quality sports equipment, such as basketballs, volleyballs, and soccer balls, would allow Middle Level Team teachers to take their students out for physically active and socially engaging team-building days.

Students need the physical activity throughout their days to break up the monotony of being in the classroom working academically for prolonged periods of time indoors and on computers. Giving them a literal Sweat Equity will produce healthy and natural endorphins and adrenaline, as well as promote building social interactions and healthy relationships!

With the onset of digital media it can be daunting and, perhaps more comfortable for students to prefer staying indoors for entertainment options. Nevertheless, giving them a reason and incentive to go outdoors and play promotes physical health, emotional regulation, and a sense of total well-being. Though video games and digital medial entice and enthrall adolescents, outdoor sports and physical Fun Fridays outside of the classroom, will never fail to be a sure-fire request and cure for their restlessness.

Building a growth mindset in our students extends beyond the classroom and into the fields and courts. Exposure to leisure play and access to various forms of athletics and recreation encourages our students to try new pursuits and pastimes. Michael Jordan wrote best, “I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I cannot accept not trying.” Our students are on the brink of discovering their talents, skills, and strengths. This project will enable them the Middle Level try!
