Help me give my students new volleyballs, soccer balls and jump ropes to learn fundamentals of team sports and gain a love of learning and engaging in new physical outlets.
Our school is a public charter school serving grades PreK – 12th in the north central Austin area. We are a small community of teachers, staff, and families committed to preparing children for the future. Our Mission is to inspire and nurture a child’s natural love for learning.
Our wonderful families come from low-socioeconomic households where children are often not given the opportunity to explore and participate in extra-curricular sports and activities outside of a school environment.
Our school currently offers flag football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, and cheer leading to our students. Our most popular sports with the most student participation are volleyball and soccer. We do not have a gym/ indoor facility to operate our athletics program; we have a small outdoor sports court and field area. Since we are without a gym, I would love to be able to provide our students with the necessary equipment to explore different games, sports, and exercises that can enrich their childhood and follow them into their adult lives.
The new volleyballs, soccer balls and jump ropes will help my athletes increase their cardiovascular endurance, allow multiple athletes to do drills at the same time, and will enhance our overall athletics program . I am excited to introduce my athletes to sports that require them to push themselves outside of their comfort zones, learn more about their bodies and its physical limits, and develop a deeper understanding of teamwork.
My hope is to continue to grow their curiosity of different physical outlets that will follow them into adulthood.
Having the opportunity to learn new games and sports in a fun and engaging way will allow my students to gain experiences they otherwise would not have, as well as develop a love and appreciation for staying active.
