This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember someone telling you stories aloud? One of the most engaging ways to learn is through storytelling. My students are learning that telling stories can captivate our imagination and transport us to another world.

Most of my students are English Language Learners who come from a culture where storytelling is part of their traditions.

They are eager learners who enjoy listening to a good story, but may lack the confidence and English vocabulary to tell a story on their own.

My Project

The puppet theater and the puppet props will help my students develop their English vocabulary, practice oral language, and also be able to tell some of the stories that they hear from Grandma or Grandpa. In addition, their culture will be pulled into our classroom as they see the connection of their rich oral traditions. It will help my students not only grow academically as they practice oral language (which is key in kindergarten), but also grow in their confidence as they too put to practice the wonderful arsenal of their imagination.

These donations will make a huge impact on my students because while they think they are playing they are actually learning and applying what they are learning in English.

In addition, there culture will be honored and their imagination will soar.
