Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom consists of enthusiastic, courageous, adventurous, and bright students who enjoy to interact with one another in different methods. They have unique backgrounds, ethnicities and originate mostly from low-income families. My students come from diverse cultural background, which include minority groups.
The recent COVID-19 pandemic has had an immense impact on my students with many of them going through hardships.
In order to target this, my goal is to make each of them feel as comfortable as possible here in the classroom. Therefore, even though each day brings a new struggle, our class comes together to overcome them. I hope that this project will make it a little easier to overcome them.
My Project
As a teacher, I will use these materials to construct a flexible learning environment that enhances individual and group performance. A 2019 article demonstrated that students who participate in flexible seating are more interactive as they actively engage and collaborate with their peers when compared to students in traditional classroom seating arrangements (Kariippanon et al.). Therefore, the items, I request such as the lap desks and wobble chairs will give students the opportunity to collaborate with their peers, maximize the learning space, and be actively engaged in their learning. Students will have a variety of seating options in the classroom that they can chose from based on their individual needs. This will in turn help my students remain alert and focused throughout the day.
Through these donations, my students will have the opportunity to grow and allow for the creation of a flexible learning environment.
