Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am an Education Specialist in my district and I get to work with students with special needs. Our inclusion model, allows students with specific needs to be in their grade level all day long with peers. Our upper-grade teachers work specifically with me, as we co-teach, allowing students to socialize and practice academics, communication, and socialization with all kids; not just some kids.
These acrylic shelves will give my students access to books and display titles for students to see instead of being in a book shelve.
It is important for high interest books and decodables to get into students hands daily. Offering a wide selection of diversity and inclusion books is a priority and these shelves make it possible for students to get excited for learning.
I believe in placing students in the least restrictive environments, as he/she learns to navigate, participate, and be apart of their grade level. Learning about oneself and celebrating our similarities, differences, and beautiful minds is how we begin our days.
