Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are kids who are from East LA. They are a part of the 99.9 Hispanic are at our school and aspire to leave the lower socio-economical status they are in. They aspire to be doctors, engineers, teachers, lawyers and much more. They want to learn how to better themselves and reading is one step of that.

Each student has a goal to reach that encourages them to read various genres of books between their reading range and ability.

They are challenged to read books that give them the opportunity to branch out of their comfort zone and progress to being college-ready!

My Project

These various books I am requesting will allow my students to feel comfortable in their reading ability and learn. The fiction and non-fiction books will allow for them to learn facts and interesting tidbits.

The various levels and genres of all these books will allow my students to challenge themselves book by book and develop their vocabulary and reading range for the Accelerated Reader program.

The classic books like "1984" and "Lord of the Flies", plus childhood favorites "James and the Giant Peach" and "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" will open doors for the students' minds. These books will allow them to see reading as fun and allow them to feel comfortable reading the various genres.
