Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Blazin' Heat teams consist of young men in elementary through high school. 95% of our team is African- American and predominantly from low-income households. All of our students attend Title I schools, and require some academic assistance in which we provide on a weekly basis. This group of young men are so dedicated to learning the skills, tactics, and strategies of the game and improve as players. In a world of so much negativity our players have chosen basketball as an outlet in order to be in a positive environment that allows them the opportunity to showcase their skills along with their character.

Despite the many challenges they may face, it's my goal to provide them with an outstanding educational-athletic program that provides a high-quality experience to every athlete regardless of their background.

My Project

As in all non-profit youth sports programs, donations have become necessary to offset the cost of maintaining a quality program. During the basketball season the team travels to many cities for tournaments. While on these trips, I also coordinate college tours to exposed the players to as many college campuses as possible. The trip to Auburn, Alabama is one the most exciting trips for our players. During this trip the team will have the opportunity to explore Auburn University's athletic facility and potentially speak with coaches and/or players from the basketball team. On this trip we will need to cover the cost of the rental vehicle to transport the team, the cost of the hotel stay as well as the fee to participate in the tournament.

Your sponsorship will enable opportunity for our youth participant, to travel and partake in a community-based program that seeks to instill high aspirations in tomorrow’s leaders/adults.
