This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have been teaching at my school for 19 years, and I love it! Often I am asked why I haven't tried transferring to a school closer to home. My response is always the same: I do not mind the drive because I work at the best school in the county. My school is a Title One school and my students come from different cultural backgrounds and socioeconomic levels, and the diversity makes for an incredible experience.

My students are wonderful!

I teach a group of 22 kindergartners who participate in the Extended Foreign Language Program known as EFL. They are the only kindergarteners at my school who take an hour of Spanish every day regardless of their ethnicity. They never cease to amaze me with how much they grow socially, physically, and academically in their first official year of school.

My Project

Some of my students do not have access to technology at home. Their only opportunity to use technology is in the classroom. At this time I only have 3 desktop computers. I would like to expand the technology available to them in my class because their future will consist of lots of technology and I want them to become familiar with it early on.

These iPads will allow them to become comfortable with technology as well as review skills and concepts learned in class.

My students will be able to use them to practice independently using educational games and practice lessons in reading, math, and science.
