My students need 3 Chromebooks to access web based programs and apps to improve their functional academic skills.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Rogers's classroom raised $641

My Students
My students all have a moderate to severe intellectual disability. Their future isn't career or college based. Their future is life skills and independent living skills based. We work daily on academics, career skills, and independent living/life skills. The most important topic is their independence and ability to care for themselves. We will learn academic skills, like measurement, when working with measuring out laundry detergent and while cooking/baking. The students will also work on life skills and real-life problem-solving as we venture into cleaning, cooking, baking, and self-care.
My Project
My students need Chromebooks in the classroom to access technology and computer programs tailored to their individual learning needs. My classroom set of computers (4 in all) have slowly died over the past few years. We are not left with a void and are unable to use computer centers for learning. Our primary learning goals are functional academics and learning basic reading and math skills to use in the community. We struggle to use the technology we have now to bridge the gap and work on our skills.
My students would benefit from the use of Chromebooks to access information, word processing software, educational websites, and apps.
They are limited in the things our technology will allow us to access because it is so cumbersome and old. The Chromebooks are mobile and will allow us to move around to different areas work together. The Chromebooks will also allow my students to work on their individual education goals through web based platforms like MobyMax.com, StudyIsland, or iXL and build their functional academic skills!
