My Students

We are an ethnically, economically, ability-diverse school where twenty-five percent of our student body receive free/reduced lunch and fifteen percent are English Language Learners. There may be much need, but we are a tight-knit community of learners.

As a close-knit school community, we make every effort to ensure the success of every student by meeting the basic needs of our most vulnerable students and families.

The school, therefore, becomes the students' second family in not only educating them, but ensuring that all needs are being met so they are ready to learn.

My Project

homelessness, abuse, parenting teens, depression, dating violence...

As a school social worker, I help empower the most vulnerable in our school community to access resources to help them learn in the classroom and succeed in life.

As more and more around us become solely web-based, accessing resources electronically is critical. In my work with students and families, technology use to obtain the necessary assistance is undeniable. Having just one tablet in my office to use with my students and their parents as I help them navigate various systems will be life-changing. I will be able to sit with students to instantaneously show them the steps to take to access the basic needs they require in order to stay in school and learn.
