My Students
I am an occupational therapist, and I work with students who receive special education services. The majority of my students have complex medical needs and/or developmental delays, including Autism, ADHD, low vision, physical and cognitive disabilities, and mental health disorders. These students require supports and accommodations to help them access the same education as their classmates.
My students are curious, love to learn, and are eager to participate in all aspects of their school day alongside their peers.
It is my role to help them be successful in the school setting regardless of their ability level. Your donation will provide resources to increase my students' independence and confidence in school.
My Project
All of the students that I service receive special education services and need different approaches to learn the same information as their peers. Typically, they can not access grade-level learning as it is presented in the classroom setting. On the iPad, there are so many resources available to students of all grade levels and all learning abilities. I use applications that present information using different learning styles. Evidence-based programs, including Handwriting Without Tears and Size Matters, are also available on the iPad when addressing written expression.
The iPad and Apple Pencil stylus will help my students learn information in the way that works best for them.
This technology will also give my students an opportunity to feel successful in the school day!
