Accessible and Sustainable Counseling Services

My Project

My students are interested in making friends and are curious about the world around them. Unfortunately, the negative impacts of the COVID pandemic on student development can still be seen. Many of my students missed out on critical early intervention services during that time. Additionally, students lost the opportunity to socialize with their peers. All of the students that I work with are participating in counseling services to support the development of their social and emotional regulation skills. My students have diverse needs and learning styles and I am always looking for new ways to expose them to the skills that they are working on.

A gift card for Teachers Pay Teachers would allow me to get resources such as social stories to help explain different scenarios and teach specific social skills, clipart and images that are representative of my students, and engaging counseling lessons.

I'm requesting binders, dividers, and other materials that will be used to create counseling workbooks for students to use in their classrooms. This will support students in transferring the skills that they are learning in therapy into other settings. I know that the students and teachers are really excited to have this resource readily available in classrooms with prompts and activities to develop a vocabulary for emotions, practice coping skills, and increase self-awareness. In order to make our counseling resources more sustainable, I'm requesting a laminator and dry-erase products so that we can reuse counseling worksheets. The large pencils and dot markers will also make the activities more accessible for students that have difficulties with writing tasks.
