My Students
Oakland community is a hub of diversity that I am lucky to be a teacher in. Our students come from a diverse city and truly reflect the city of Oakland.
We have students from every ethnicity, socio-economic status, and much more.
Being a first year teacher I have big plans to help our students become the best Titan they can be.
Our school provides our students a place of safe learning. They show up most days ready to learn and engage in activities provided for them. My school is working to provide urban students with all the amenities a student growing up in America should have. It can be tough at times because we are working against poverty, violence, and drugs that plague our community.
My Project
As a first year teacher, I am motivated to make a big impact on their education and learning, but I need some help. My students are AMAIZNG, funny, and bring a lighthearted positivity to school - even on Oakland's coldest, foggiest days.
My students are often hungry and need snacks throughout the school day to keep their energy up and be able to focus on their academics!
I often push my students to strive for excellence in my class and that means coming on time and not leaving during class, but when you have to go get water you need to go! That is where the problem lies they have to take ~15 minute round tip to fill their water bottle up!
If I had a water dispenser in class it would help my students stay in class and have one extra place to get water from while at school.
