Help me give my students assistive tools to provide access for reading. For students who struggle with reading, due to their disabilities, assistive tools like Text to Speech and Guiding Strips provides accessibility to reading.
These items will be used to assist our students who have difficulty with reading due to their disabilities that are identified under the categories defined by IDEA. As students learn the skills and strategies to become stronger readers, students use assistive technology to allow accessibility to the English curriculum. Speech to Text allows students to audibly hear the reading or words to help with comprehension. The assistive technology in this list also provides the opportunity to provide the definition of unrecognizable words to support comprehension and vocabulary knowledge. Guided Strips allows for students with ADHD/ADD to focus on one line of reading at a time.
Assistive technology allows students with disabilities to have access to the curriculum and participate in classroom instruction while learning and building their reading skills.
