Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My 20 students are members of a third grade inclusion classroom in the middle of a large city. Inclusion classrooms in our district combine general education students (75%) and students with special needs (25%). Together, these diverse learners tackle grade-level content and standards.
They are eager to explore new academic content each day, and they learn best through hands-on experiences.
I am eager to build a comfortable and inspiring classroom environment, where students feel cared for and inspired to learn.
My Project
A collection of book sets with audio will allow all of my students to access rigorous, relevant and exciting texts. As an inclusion teacher, I have the pleasure of working to increase the fluency and comprehension skills of students reading at all levels (print concepts to above grade level expectations). A Listening Center will allow for an additional point of entry for students not yet reading independently and those not yet motivated to read on their own. In addition, shared reading experiences such as those provided through a listening center promote literary discussion. Please help me grow my literacy block!
