My students need high-quality reading intervention materials and resources to help fill reading gaps! These leveled reading sets and intentional instructional interventions will give all of my students at different levels access to appropriate leveled text!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My amazing students face obstacles many of us can't even imagine. Nearly all come from low-income households and live in public housing. Yet, they come to school each day, try their best, and push through! I want to make each day at school meaningful and comfortable for them as I continue to challenge and support them in the classroom. I work with 4th-5th grade students in a smaller setting to meet their individual education needs. We incorporate small group instruction and 1:1 support. These students have so much potential and creativity! They are just missing the resources in which to express their knowledge and skills!
All of my students are deserving of quality education with the proper resources and supplies to learn and thrive!
To have this happen, I need some extra support in purchasing necessary materials specifically for literacy intervention and support.
My Project
These materials will give my students a variety of different texts to choose form, resources to use, and strategies for them to apply when decoding text. These texts are interesting, leveled, and incorporate exposure to global science and social studies concepts. The teacher intervention books also have passages at all different levels. I believe that having a variety of types of text to choose from at the students' level will give them motivation and confidence to read more! Students who are a couple grade levels behind, will be able to feel confident reading hi-lo passages which have an appearance of grade-level text/structure.
These high-interest text sets and passages will help to engage students who struggle with reading.
