This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are exposed to a literacy rich environment in my classroom. They really enjoy the reading and writing that we do every day in our class.

I work with a diverse group of students at a gifted magnet middle school.

I teach English. My students range from gifted, high achieving students, to students with special needs, and those who struggle academically. They differ in socioeconomic status and which neighborhoods they live in, which makes for very diverse classes.

My students strive to achieve success everyday. They work hard to improve their skills and are an amazing group of youth to work with.

My Project

My students would benefit greatly from receiving Chromebooks for our classroom. Students have an online textbook but currently have no access to the technology needed to access the text regularly. They can also access varying forms of media on topics so that they can develop into critical thinkers.

Students will use the Chromebooks to improve their reading and writing skills to work toward achieving phenomenal success.

When students are able to submit work online, I can grade it right away so they can receive instant feedback which allows them to make significant improvements in their work. In addition, they can view the work of peers and have critical discussions on how to meet and exceed expectations in their work.

Chromebooks will offer the students the opportunity to become more technologically literate. They will be able to publish their work so that they will have a real world audience and purpose to their writing. They will hone their typing skills and learn about how to format documents such as thank you letters, resumes and other various types of written work.
