Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A total communication classroom is a classroom where the students and staff utilize American Sign Language as well as spoken language to communicate. The students range in their abilities and age! Students start as soon as they turn three years old! This program has not only preschoolers but also kindergarteners! Having such a range can be difficult but it is such a joy to teach the young students and set the foundation for their academic careers!

My Project

By providing my students with more books in the library they have access to more language and opportunity to develop their spoken language as well as their American Sign Language. The community helpers costumes will be used to help teach the students about some of the unspoken hero’s that are apart of our daily lives and an opportunity to pretend to be those hero’s. Again, using language and learning more language as the grow and develop. My students often times come to me and they don’t have any language and I have to start at square one to help them develop their skills
