My Students

Every day is a new adventure with many challenges to overcome. I teach in a Title One school where many of my students arrive early for breakfast and early morning tutoring. We strive to give them every opportunity to help them become lifelong learners. “A child miseducated, is a child lost" - JFK

My students come from many backgrounds, but they all struggle to read and have been identified as having dyslexia.

I have a variety of ages and grades throughout the day. Our classroom set up is a small group setting. Most of my students are also learning to correctly use English. Some of them have very little support at home and are often in charge of helping younger siblings with homework and doing household chores. They are all very hard workers and are doing the best they can with the cards they have been dealt.

My Project

We are trying to teach our students to be Future Ready and without the technology they will continue to fall behind. Many of my students do not have the resources to purchase tablets, Kindles, etc., on their own. By increasing technology with the 6 requested tablets and using the app Learning Ally my students will read and experience literature at their interest level. They will also increase their comprehension, academic vocabulary and English speaking ability.

By providing the necessary tools to help my students, we will provide them the opportunity to increase their learning.

When students are given opportunities to reach their full potential, they will do amazing things! Technology is only a small step but my students have learned that small steps lead us to great adventures and success.
