Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education." - Martin Luther King, Jr.

My students are inquisitive, self-motivated, inspiring, active, and an amazing bunch of students.

They inspire me to be the best teacher that I can for them because of their love and passion for learning. They love to read, sing, be creative, explore, and participate in activities that keep them fit. They love to learn new things and challenge themselves to be the best they can be.

My Project

I am requesting an assortment of literature (both non-fiction and fiction) and picture books, such as "Paper Boy," "Nathan's Wish: A Story About Cerebral Palsy," and "Strong is the New Pretty: A Celebration of Girls Being Themselves" and a Chromebook in order to teach my students about diversity.

I am creating a section in my classroom library called the Diverse Community.

The bookshelf I am requesting will be used as the Diverse Community section. In our diverse community section, students will be able to choose from an assortment of topics on diversity to read from. Students will be able to identify with characters from the stories and use those connections to discuss the topic of tolerance and appreciation for other cultures/differences. The diverse community books will help us gain background knowledge on things that happen in communities around the world.

Students will be required to choose a book to read, and then research on the topic, to present to their classmates and use the Chromebook as a presentation tool.
