Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are given a 100 point goal every year that is reached through the Accelerated Reader program. The student that reach this goal get to join the "100 point club" in our school which increases student motivation to read for points.
Our school has been named by the U.S.
Department of Education as a National Blue Ribbon School. We are the only school in South Texas to ever have received such an honor!! Our students come from a very disadvantaged area and yet they strive to be the best!!!!
My Project
This listening library will help our students meet their 100 point goal on Accelerated Reader. The 100 point goal that we give our third graders helps to dramatically increase their comprehension and gets them ready for performance based state tests. Students who reach their goal have gotten commended performance on the TAKS reading test!!!! Commended means that these students got a 95 or better on the test!!!!!!
We are limited on classroom library resources.
I try to frequent the goodwill and thrift stores to look for decent books to add to our classroom library. These reading resources would allow my students to reach their Accelerated Reader goals and ultimately become fluent and comprehensive readers to prepare them for their future!!!!
