Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

The “Tiger” students enjoy exploring while learning and can be found creating special projects that show their advance knowledge of learning multiple subjects. My students are bright-eyed and eager to learn advance science, language arts and math. These students enjoy creating assignments that require hands-on materials (crayons, papers, and oil pastels) to detail their projects. Despite residing in a low income and at-risk community these scholars are showing gain on state test. As eager beavers, these students are motivated, and their ability level matches affluent students across the district. These students when challenged, place first on state social studies and math projects.

It is our students and staff belief that “Teaching rigorous and engaging assignments will help to prepare and provide our at-risk students with a first-class education.” The “Tiger’ student’s hard work is embraced as they demand special supplies that allow them to connect their classroom projects to the assignment taught.

There is no limitation regarding our students’ interest and desire to learn and broaden their scope.

My Project

If funded with this grant which includes paper, crayons, and oil pastels my students will have hands-on activities that provide students’ with the ability to illustrate their understanding of various subjects. Students' will use their new supplies to develop assignments where they create, illustrate and design math, science, and language arts units Students zest for learning will increase as students engagement increase through using their hands and prior knowledge to develop their assignments. These special projects will build students' interest level and craftsmanship skills.

Through having paper, crayons, and oil pastels my students will connect their classroom studies to the world around them and understand advance subjects.

Students will show improvement in all subject core areas through creating hands-on artifacts that correlates to their learning. Students' learning will improve as they demonstrate their ability to learn while using paper, crayons and oil pastels while delving a topic of interest students will connect their new found interest to learning with having new hands-on supplies. Through developing hands-on units, students zest for learning and creativity will become evident.
