Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My seniors at MHS are ready to graduate and take on the world! I have 300+ bright, intelligent, sweet and hardworking students that will be our future. MHS is a Title I School in Jackson, MS, where all students receive free lunch due to the Community Eligibility Grant. MHS also is an Academic and Performing Arts School with a student from all over the city who have special talents or high academics. These students have applied to college, been accepted and now its time to celebrate their accomplishments.

My Project

Our Academic Signing Day Pep Rally is an event where our seniors can celebrate the accomplishment of having chosen a college to attend after high school. For instance, athletes have a signing day when they announce which college they will attend. This should be done for all seniors. Our seniors have done all the steps leading up to this day. Students have completed College Application Days, FAFSA Days, and its time for a College Acceptance/Signing Day.

On April 29, our seniors will tell us which college they have decided to attend and sign their name with their college recruiter.

The items selected for our Signing Day will be given as door prizes during the pep rally. The door prizes such as Fire tablets, Roku streaming players, speakers and printers will be items they can use at college.
