This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students at my school are eager to learn and grow and work collaboratively to build a community.

My students attend a high poverty school in which all of the students qualify for free lunch.

My students are eager learners despite some of the difficult challenges they face on a daily basis. Most of my students are fascinated by the world of science and love to explore and watch as things grow, change, adapt, and evolve.

One of our students' favorite parts of the day is our Morning Meeting time where we spend time together building community and learning how to get along, work together, and become family at school.

My Project

Help give my students alphabet manipulatives to help us learn our ABCs. Learning the ABCs is an integral part of Kindergarten, and many of my students are still struggling to learn the names of all of the letters.

Learning the names of the letters is essential because it is a precursor for learning sight words, letter sounds, and blending sounds into words for reading.

All of my students are eager to learn to read, so giving them this extra practice will help ensure they are learning the names of the letters and able to start in a small reading group to learn to read!
