My Students
Take a moment to think about your kindergarten experience. Did you just get a feeling of nostalgia, too? Kindergarten is an amazing and fun time that teaches you the foundations of reading, writing, and math.
The children I teach are energetic, wonderful, hardworking students.
Some of them come from situations that no one should ever experience. They impress me every day with their awesome attitudes and desire to learn. We are a full-day kindergarten class at a Title I school. Most of our students qualify for the free breakfast and lunch program. The student population is 33% Caucasian, 26% Hispanic, 12% Asian, 11% African American, and 28% other.
My Project
My students need math and literacy station materials. Kindergarten is a crucial time in elementary school. Students learn the foundations of math, reading, and writing. Having the Lakeshore number rockets, counting cards, and pattern block cards will help my students learn key mathematical concepts in a fun and engaging way. The sight word sentence and Splash game will introduce the skills needed in order to become a fluent reader.
To best prepare my students for success in all of these new academic areas, my goal is to provide fun centers in the classroom to maximize time and address students' individual needs.
The centers requested in this project will address the areas the students tend to struggle with. These items will allow students to work in small groups in the areas they require the most support. Please be our hero and help us obtain these fun and exciting math and literacy stations.
