My students need alphabet manipulatives and practice books to help students identify and learn the alphabet.
According to George Washington Carver, "Education is the key to unlock the golden door of freedom." I want to provide that KEY to unlock that golden door for education. My students are eager to have the opportunity to unlock that door!
The students that I will be teaching are first and second students with disabilities.
Their disabilities range from communication impaired and mildly cognitively impaired. Most of my students struggle with the day-to-day academics. Not only are they cognitively impaired, which impedes on their learning, they also come to school sometimes hungry. More then half of the school population receives free breakfasts and lunches. These particular students attend a school that is located in poverty stricken area in New Jersey. These particular students come from homes in which their parent or parents work two to three jobs just to make ends meet. Many of my students go home to a house that English is not spoken. Even though these students struggle with learning and live in a poverty stricken area, these students are hungry to learn. My goal for this new school is to have all 12 of my students to love school!
My first and second grade special education students are my world! These students struggle with day-to-day activities and I want to provide these students with every opportunity to have that chance to UNLOCK that do to for education. I do not want these students to be denied that opportunity to learn. These materials will be used during guided practice, centers and group activities. Their classroom lacks these hands-on activities like books, markers, and pocket chart to help these students learn their alphabet!
Have you ever had a time in your schooling were struggled with learning?
Well, my students do struggle with schooling and they are hungry to learn. Since their classroom lacks the materials for my students to have a concept reinforced/learned, these materials will be put to good use. Please donate to help better my students' education.
