My Students

All beginnings are hard... especially the first time children come to school for their kindergarten year! Please help us to make learning a new language fun and easy!

The majority of my students are ELL students.

I work in a Title 1 school, where most of my students do not have the means or materials at home to support their learning from school. For most of my children this is their very first experience going to school. They often come into my classroom straight from their country of origin. The biggest difficulty of course is for my students to learn the English language. This challenge needs to begin with the proper foundational skills of the English Alphabet.

My Project

I have carefully selected a variety of ABC games, puzzles, and activities for my students. I have been teaching kindergarten for over ten years and therefore I am very familiar with the importance of learning the ABC in a hands on approach. I love to watch my students learn new concepts and discover the wonderful letters and sounds of our ABC. Included in our daily routines is time for the children to explore and learn the ABC letters and sounds. Having these wonderful manipulatives and games would be a great way for my students to learn in a happy and successful way. I love seeing their excited smiles upon finishing a giant ABC floor puzzle. I love watching their faces light up when they finish a matching game of capital and lower case letters. But most of all I love to be a part of their world when they discover and learn new letters, sounds, and words. Because confident happy learners make amazing and successful students!

Teaching ELL students a new language can often be a challenge.

Having the proper materials in my classroom would be a huge help for my children. I want them to have a lot of engaging activities that will help them learn. I would love to help my students learn the ABC letters and sounds using different modalities. And perhaps most importantly, having these materials in my classroom will help make learning FUN and EXCITING!! Isn't that the ultimate goal for my students and I???
