Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are absolutely amazing and come in every morning with a smile. They have a desire to learn and grow everyday.
I work at a diverse Title I elementary school in Maryland.
A majority of my students are English Language Learners and come from low-income families. My heart absolutely belongs to Kindergarten and I love being the first teacher that my students have in school. They truly inspire me everyday to be the best I can be for them.
My Project
I am looking for new materials to help my students with letter naming, letter identification, and letter sounds. I love having hands-on learning resources that are fun and tactical in my classroom! I am looking for alphabet puzzles, play dough for my students to make letters, small writing pencils for my students to write letters, and beads for my students to find the letters in their names and make words! These materials will help my students practice identifying letters, tracing and writing letters, and recognizing beginning sounds. Having alphabet materials that are age appropriate and engaging will help my students' interest in learning the alphabet! They will allow my students to see, play with, and compare letters and letter shapes. Children’s knowledge of letter names and shapes is a strong predictor in their success with reading and writing.
