My Students
Our school celebrated its 100th year as a public school during the 2014-2015 school year. Our school is a very small, diverse, neighborhood school with 52% of our students coming from poor socio-economic backgrounds. Because of the large number of low-income students, our school meets the requirements for our entire student body to receive free breakfast and free lunch. To meet the diverse learning needs, our school offers after-school study programs to assist in student achievement. There is also a variety of programs and assemblies to enrich students' achievement.
My Project
The fourth grade science curriculum focuses on the world of living things. This field trip opportunity will allow the students to learn more about the various ecosystems and habitats that we studied in class.
This donation will provide students of a Title I school the opportunity to participate in an interactive field trip to the Philadelphia Zoo that will create memories that will last a lifetime.
For many students who attend our small school, this will be the first and perhaps the only time they will be able to visit a zoo. This field trip will provide students who other wise would not have the opportunity to learn about animals from different ecosystems around the world, while having the opportunity to visit America's First Zoo.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
