My Students

My inquisitive third graders are always searching to reach outside their comfort zone to learn more about a world full of possibilities.

They are curious, confident, and striving to become community leaders.

The majority of my students have a variety of obstacles to overcome. They need extra care for their social, emotional, and physical needs. My class consists of a majority of ethnic and social backgrounds. Many families struggle financially. My students use their big hearts to support one another and celebrate each other's successes.

My Project

One of my students' favorite time of the day has been our yoga and meditation. We take this "mindful moment" to reset, refocus, and practice our self-regulation skills. The class' favorite is when we stretch, deep breath, and then spend a few minutes curled up in our safe spaces. My students have told me these "safe spaces" have helped them feel more focused, calm, and ready to take on new challenges.

By gifting each student a yoga mat for Christmas, you'd be provided a safe space to practice their self-regulation and mindfulness.

It would also give them something to call their own!

However, this is more than a Christmas gift. It is a new tool my students can use to navigate their emotions and have safe space to go to in times of need.
