My students are one of a kind. They each bring their own stories and experiences to the classroom. Our school is a special place.
When I student-taught at this school, the one thing that I was told was that I needed to be an advocate for my students.
I tried to think outside the box to spark their creativity and made my lessons engaging and interative. As my time as a student came to a close there, I had no idea that my students would become my advocates. When they found out that I was applying for the job, many of my current and former students advocated on my behalf to many faculty and staff. As a full-fledged teacher I can truthfully say that I owe my position to my students. Now I want to continue what I started by being their advocate. I want to make sure they have everything they need to be successful.
My Project
As this semester draws to a close, I am trying to stock up on a few things for my students. This semester we are working through The Book Thief and will begin to read Romeo and Juliet. We will also be working on writing techniques and grammar usage/mechanics. All of these supplies are necessities that my students truly do need to learn. We are not a large school, and therefore we have students who are constantly in need.
Any donations are welcome and appreciated!
I am trying to obtain pencils, paper, and other basic school supplies. The items I have requested are some of the things that my students need.
